Mission

Mino Hawaii was founded in the Summer of 2021. It is a place for zero-waste, vintage lovers. We rework pre-loved clothing that were once destined for the landfill. The purpose of our reworked design is to refresh out-dated styles into pieces that are unique and wearable. We strive to be zero-waste as possible by saving all fabric remnants for repurposing in other designs.

Behind the name

Kanako, also known as @Style.leaf on Instagram is the founder of Mino. She is born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii as a second generation Asian American with Japanese and Filipino lineage. She is a long-time lover of fashion and the environment. She holds a bachelors degree in Fashion Design from University of Hawaii. Her original career aspirations were in Marine Biology but her eye for style and love for creating lead her to a path of combining fashion and sustainability. Her mission is to recreate the fashion industry through the lenses of sustainability.

"Mino" was her late mother's maiden name. She was the fashion icon of Kanako's life who instilled compassion for nature and the environment.
